Abstract:Le communiqué nécrologique comme espace de théâtralisation dans la presse écrite ivoirienne

Today, the obituary is part of the ritualised forms of death announcement in the press. It serves not only to inform about the death but also to respond to a process of dramatizing the funeral. Therefore, the underlying problem of this article is formulated as follows: who is the self in the obituary? How is the self-dramatized? To answer this question, this study draws on the theoretical and methodological considerations of the enunciative approach to discourse. on discursive ethos. The methodological approach used is discourse analysis. The corpus analyzed consists of 15 obituary announcements extracted from Fraternité Matin, the national Ivorian daily newspaper. The results indicate that the obituary is a place where the post mortem prestige of the deceased and the social and symbolic capital of the family of the deceased are displayed. The obituary announcement appears to be a self-interested discourse. As such, the obituary discourse is always an ideological discourse.
