Évaluation de la qualité de la traduction de certains contenus techniques de l’anglais vers le français : Une étude de cas de KAIPTC

The objective of our study is to select technical content from English to French in the documents of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and to conduct an evaluation of the translation quality through a comparative analysis of the source text and the target text. Our approach aims to establish the main parameters of this evaluation within the framework of an empirical research on the translation process, with the ambition to assess its quality. This methodology requires shedding light on the transfer of meaning from the original text in the context of the formulations in the target text, considering aspects such as its authenticity in relation to the natural expression it conveys, its perceptible ambiguity, its style, the transmission of its cultural elements, and the circumstances surrounding the translation. These analyses are carried out practically, taking into account the specific challenges of this report from the KAIPTC.
Keywords: meaning transfer, stylistic turns, cultural elements, authenticity and ambiguity, translation quality.
